Fish Tamatar Ka Khat
Ingredients
•Fish,Cut into big pieces 250 grams
•Tomatoes,roughly chopped 10-12 medium
•Oil 9 tablespoons
•Cinnamon 2 one inch stick
•Ginger,chopped 2 inch piece
•Garlic,chopped 10-12 clove
•Fresh coriander stems,finely chopped 2 tablespoons
•Juice of 1 lemon
•Turmeric powder 1/2 teaspoon
•Red chilli powder 2 teaspoons
•Coriander powder 1 tablespoon
•Salt to taste
•Roasted chana dal powder 1 tablespoon
•Tamarind paste 1 tablespoon
•Cumin seeds 1 teaspoon
•Mustard seeds 1 teaspoon
•Dried red chillies,broken 3-4
•Curry leaves 10-12
•Coconut milk 1/2 cup
•Fresh coriander leaves,finely chopped 2 tablespoons
Heat 2 tbsps oil in a non stick pan, add cinnamon, ginger and garlic and sauté till fragrant. Add tomatoes and mix. Cover and cook. Add fresh coriander stems and mix. Place fish in a bowl. Add lemon juice, turmeric powder, ½ tsp red chilli powder and mix well. Set aside for 30 minutes to marinate. Add coriander powder, 1½ tsp red chilli powder and salt to the tomato mixture and mix well.Add roasted chana dal powder, tamarind paste and ½ cup water. Mix well. Transfer this mixture into a mixer jar, cool and grind into a fine paste. Strain. Heat 2 tbsps oil in another pan. Add cumin seeds and mustard seeds. When they splutter, add dried red chillies, curry leaves, tomato mixture, 1 cup water, coconut milk and mix well.Add finely chopped fresh coriander and mix. Cover and cook for 2-3 minutes. Heat 5 tbsps oil in a non stick grill pan, shallow fry the marinated fish, turning sides, till golden on both sides.Add the fish pieces to the tomato mixture and mix and bring to a boil.
